Jack M. Chapman, M.D., is a highly respected, board-certified ophthalmologist who has practiced in Gainesville and Northeast Georgia since 1992. His primary areas of focus are cataract refractive surgery, laser cataract surgery and treatment for eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, astigmatism, dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts. His refractive cataract practice includes all varieties of Intraocular lens technology including premium multifocal and toric lenses coupled with femtosecond laser cataract surgery.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, Southern College of Optometry and the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Chapman trained in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia Hospitals and Clinics. He is the first cataract surgeon to perform femtosecond laser cataract surgery in Georgia. Dr. Chapman has presented at numerous eye meetings both nationally and internationally, and he also participates in clinical eye research. He serves on the Physician Advisory Board for EyeSouth Partners, an eye services management organization based in Atlanta, and was named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in Atlanta in 2019, 2020, and 2022.
In addition to practicing in Gainesville and Cornelia, Dr. Chapman has surgical consultation locations in Hiawassee and Clayton, Georgia and Hayesville, North Carolina.
When he is not at work, Dr. Chapman enjoys time with family, travel and his volunteer efforts.
