Dr. Somi Kwon is an experienced optometrist with a commitment to delivering top-quality eye care across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric patients. Currently practicing at North Georgia Eye Associates in Gainesville East and Cumming locations, Dr. Kwon brings a patient-centric philosophy to her work, treating every patient as if they were her own family members.
Hailing from Duluth, GA, her connection to the local community enhances her understanding of the unique eye care needs of her patients. Dr. Kwon’s educational journey includes earning her Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2020. Prior to that, she pursued post-baccalaureate studies at Georgia State University and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Biology minor from the University of Georgia, graduating Cum Laude.
Before working at North Georgia Eye Associates, she served as an Optometrist at Doctor’s Exchange of Georgia PC (National Vision Inc) in Cumming, GA, Dr. Kwon where she treated and managed ocular diseases, conducted refractions, and educated patients on various ocular conditions, facilitating referrals when necessary.
Dr. Kwon’s professional journey includes valuable externship experiences, including at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Atwater Eye Care Center, Indiana University Health Center, and North Suburban Vision Consultants. These experiences have equipped her with comprehensive skills in ocular disease management, low vision exams, vision therapy, and specialty contact lens fittings. Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Kwon has diverse interests, including drawing, painting, photography, and spending time with her toddler.
