EVO ICL
North Georgia Eye Associates is excited to announce we're now offering the revolutionary EVO ICL to qualified patients! Are you ready to make a change for the better? Why not start with improving your vision and your life?

What is EVO ICL?

EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is an evolution in vision correction procedures. If you want to free yourself from the constraints of glasses and contact lenses, look no further.

EVO ICL is an additive lens placed behind your iris, which is the colored part of your eye. The EVO ICL corrects nearsightedness and astigmatism in qualified patients.

What sets the EVO ICL apart is that it is made from “Collamer,” a material made from collagen, which your body naturally produces. This means that the EVO ICL is biocompatible, in harmony with the chemistry of your eye. As a result, this lens is an excellent choice for many people, especially those with dry eyes or other conditions that make them less favorable or ineligible for corneal laser procedures like LASIK or PRK.

Advantages of the EVO ICL

The EVO ICL corrects a wide range of nearsighted and nearsighted astigmatism prescriptions. You can look forward to crisp, sharp vision no matter where you are, whether it’s a sunny day or late at night.

The EVO ICL procedure has a quick recovery time, with many patients able to return to their usual routines within one day of implantation. Because it’s a minimally invasive procedure, patients often notice the improvement in their vision right away.

Being removable, the EVO ICL is a unique vision correction procedure because it is reversible. Most patients choose long-term use because they love the visual results.

Although it is not intended to replace sunglasses, the EVO ICL does include additional UV light protection.

If you want to stop relying on glasses and contact lenses, the EVO ICL is an excellent choice. This lens is ideal for patients who may not qualify for laser corneal procedures like LASIK or PRK, but it can also be considered as a favorable alternative even for those who are LASIK or PRK candidates.

What to Expect

During the EVO ICL Procedure

EVO ICL is an outpatient procedure, meaning you will go home after completion.

Although your vision may be clear after EVO ICL placement, you cannot drive yourself home. You will need a trusted friend or family member to take you to and from your procedure.

Before the EVO ICL procedure at North Georgia Eye Associates begins, your surgeon will numb your eyes with drops. They will make a small incision in your cornea. Next, they will insert the EVO ICL through the incision and position it behind your iris and in front of your natural lens. Because the incision is so tiny, there is usually no need for sutures, and it will heal naturally as you recover. The EVO ICL procedure usually takes less than 30 minutes to complete, making it quick and easy to fit into your busy lifestyle.

After the EVO ICL procedure, follow-up appointments are necessary. You will have to return to North Georgia Eye Associates the day after having the EVO ICL placed in your eye, and then you will require periodic follow-up appointments. During these appointments, your ophthalmologist will ensure that your vision has improved and that your eyes are healing and recovering properly.

Recovering After

Undergoing EVO ICL

Once the EVO ICL procedure is complete, you will receive instructions from your ophthalmologist. Following these instructions is essential to have the smoothest recovery possible after EVO ICL placement. The best thing you can do after the procedure is rest for a few days. Refrain from intense physical activity, including exercising or lifting heavy weights, until cleared by your eye doctor. You may also find you are more comfortable wearing sunglasses if you experience light sensitivity.

If your ophthalmologist asks you to wear an eye shield, ensure you wear this precisely as directed. You will usually be required to wear this while sleeping, as it will prevent you from accidentally rubbing your eyes during slumber. You will also need to avoid rubbing your eyes, swimming, or wearing makeup until your ophthalmologist clears you. Because there is a fast recovery after EVO ICL placement, it should only be a brief time until you can do these things again.

Let your eye doctor know as soon as possible if you notice any worsening vision, redness, pain, or pressure in your eyes, as this can be a sign of complications or an infection. Closely following all instructions for your EVO ICL recovery will ensure that you have the smoothest and healthiest recovery after your procedure.
